Four ways people behave when their mental energy drops and stress takes over.
Example
When the homework piles up, Sam tries to do it all at once and burns out (rush). His sister sits and stares at the page (freeze). His friend keeps finding other things to do (avoid). His other friend writes ten lists (control). Same situation, four reactions.
How it fits in
These four modes show up at the edges of attention, not in the middle. Most people have one mode they fall into more than the others. The point is to know your own well enough to spot it starting, before it runs the next twenty minutes for you. Naming the mode is often enough to interrupt it.
