The conversation that turns interest into a paid customer. Done well, it feels less like persuasion and more like checking whether you fit.
Example
A potential customer asks lots of questions about your tutoring service. Instead of pushing, you ask what they have already tried and what their actual goal is. Halfway through, they realise they need group classes, not one-on-one. You refer them. Six months later they refer two friends to you.
How it fits in
Selling is helping the right buyer say yes and helping the wrong buyer say no. Both serve the customer. The best sales conversations are diagnostic. They uncover whether the buyer's problem and the seller's solution actually fit. Pushy sales tactics usually win the deal and lose the customer. Good salespeople come back to the same buyers years later because the buyer remembered the honesty.
