Example
Instead of building an app, your friend writes a private Google Doc that does the same thing manually for ten classmates. Five of them keep using it past the first week. That tells him more than a polished app would have, in two days instead of two months.
How it fits in
An MVP is not the cheapest version possible. It is the smallest version that delivers genuine value to a real user, so their feedback teaches you something you could not have guessed from a sketch. Most first MVPs are still too big. The second attempt is usually better because the team has accepted what to leave out.
