Conflict, Feedback, And Repair
This lesson helps students handle conflict, feedback, and repair in teams or projects. They practise accountability and next steps.
What you will learn
- Understand the Radical Candor framework (Care Personally + Challenge Directly) and why it produces better relationships than the three unhelpful alternatives.
- Learn a simple structure for giving feedback that is specific, kind, and usable, and understand why the structure produces better outcomes than vague or harsh alternatives.
- Learn to receive hard feedback without getting defensive by pausing, asking clarifying questions, and separating the useful message from the delivery.
- Build a Repair Plan for a real conflict, with a specific apology, a specific change, and a specific invitation to rebuild the relationship.
What happens in this lesson
Chapter 1: Radical Candor
Understand the Radical Candor framework (Care Personally + Challenge Directly) and why it produces better relationships than the three unhelpful alternatives.
What you make: A saved candor note classifying three specific pieces of feedback the student has received or given into the four quadrants of Radical Candor.
Chapter 2: Giving Feedback Well
Learn a simple structure for giving feedback that is specific, kind, and usable, and understand why the structure produces better outcomes than vague or harsh alternatives.
What you make: A saved feedback draft for a real situation, using the Situation-Behaviour-Impact structure.
Chapter 3: Receiving Feedback
Learn to receive hard feedback without getting defensive by pausing, asking clarifying questions, and separating the useful message from the delivery.
What you make: A saved receiving note describing a real time the student received hard feedback and writing what they would do differently using the three techniques from this chapter.
Chapter 4: Repair Plan
Build a Repair Plan for a real conflict, with a specific apology, a specific change, and a specific invitation to rebuild the relationship.
What you make: A saved Repair Plan for a real conflict with all three parts (apology, change, invitation).
Chapter 5: Feedback In A Team
Apply Radical Candor, SBI feedback, and repair planning to a real team or startup scenario where the goal is improving performance without breaking trust.
What you make: A saved team feedback plan that rewrites one difficult team conversation using Radical Candor, SBI, and a repair move.
Chapter 6: When Feedback Is Not Enough
Evaluate the limits of feedback and repair, and decide when a relationship needs a boundary, a reset, or a different kind of response.
What you make: A saved decision note explaining whether a real conflict should be repaired, bounded, or left alone, with reasons.
